Precision in every detail – inside our handmade grinder production in Bammental
When we talk about making great coffee, machines often take center stage. But ask any barista or home coffee enthusiast and they'll tell you: the grinder is just as important. A consistent, precise grind is the foundation of every great espresso, and it’s why we’ve made the decision to not only design but handcraft the grinders ourselves.
At Profitec, we build all of our grinders in Bammental, a small town near Heidelberg. In a dedicated workshop space our small team of experienced technicians assembles each unit by hand—with care, precision, and an understanding of how important every detail is.
Craftsmanship over mass production
There are no conveyor belts in Bammental. Instead, there are workbenches, small trays of finely machined components, and a team that takes pride in their craft. Each grinder is made up of dozens of individual parts. Take the TWIST A54: it includes over 50 different components, all of which are carefully mounted and aligned. As Pino, our team lead for grinder production, explains:
“We put everything together ourselves. The parts don´t come preassembled, so there is a lot of preparation involved before the grinders take shape.”
After the parts are put together, they get inspected before the grinder is put together. After the assembly, the grinders are tested and inspected again before they get cleaned and packaged. The constant quality control ensures that all the products that leave the workshop meet our high standards for performance and durability. We don’t just want our grinders to function well. We want them to feel right when you use them.

Our grinder production team isn’t large—but it’s highly skilled. Many of our team members have years of experience in precision assembly.
“We always work with precision and make sure everything looks and feels just right,” says Pino. “We test all the components and pay close attention to the details. This isn’t mass production—everything is done with care and a lot of heart.”
